Route description:
- 1st day arrival
- Individual travel to Weißenburg.
- 2nd day Weißenburg – Eichstätt about 50 km
- The first day of your tour leads you along the Altmühl River via Treuchtlingen
into the episcopal town of Eichstätt. Here you`ll be enchanted by the bright
flair of italian-style baroque. Worth to be seen are the cathedral, abbey and
the baroque court (Residenzplatz).

- 3rd day Eichstätt – Beilngrieß / Dietfurt about 55 km
- Today you are going to bike partly through the Natural Area Altmühl, which is
3000 square km in size. Via Kipfenberg and Kinding (resistance church with three towers)
you reach Beilngrieß.
- 4th day Beilngrieß / Dietfurt – Regensburg about 72 km
- On you go along the Altmühl to Dietfurt, known for its chinese carneval, of which
you are reminded by the chinese mask at the fountain in front of the city hall. Via
Riedenburg with the charming fortress Rosenberg (12th century) and a bird of prey
exibition, the trail leads you to Kehlheim, where the Altmühl joins the Danube River.
The Hall of Liberty near Kehlheim reminds you of the wars under Napoleon. Reaching
Regensburg you are at the most northern point of the Danube River.

- 5th day Regensburg – Straubing about 55 km
- Make sure to go on an extended sightseeing tour through the former empire city of
Regensburg with its medieval cathedral. Following the Danube you come to Walhalla,
a classical building erected by King Louis 1st . Afoot the Bavarian Forest you reach the
duke town Straubing, the watchtower of which can be seen from far away.
- 6th day Straubing – Deggendorf about 45 km
- Today your trail leads you through the contemplative Danube valley via Bogen
(Bogenberg, church of pilgrimage), Pfelling and Mariaposching to the Benedictian
abbey of Metten, which houses one of the oldest libraries. Today`s destination is
Deggendorf, the gateway to the Bavarian Forest.
- 7th day Deggendorf – Passau about 60 km
- The last part of your tour takes you via the abbey of Niederalteich (8th century) to
Winzer (ruin) and on to Vilshofen. Now it`s not very far to Passau, and there will be
enough time to have a look at the many sights of Passau
(fortress Oberhaus, 3-River-roundtrip, baroque cathedral with the
largest church-organ of the world).
